Motorcycle Academy
About Qatar Motorsports Academy
For years, Lusail International Circuit has stood as a benchmark for the world’s premier motorcycle racing championships, including MotoGP™ and WorldSBK. Building on this unique environment, Qatar Motorsports Academy was created with a clear vision: to develop the next generation of motorcycle racing talent and provide young riders with a pathway from grassroots development to the highest levels of international competition.
The Academy brings together professional racing experience, world-class facilities and structured training methodologies to create an environment where young riders can learn, develop and compete.
Our programmes are designed to develop the complete motorcycle racer. Technical skills, race craft, physical fitness, mental preparation, discipline, safety and professional conduct are all essential elements of the Academy's approach.
Our objective is not simply to teach young riders how to ride a motorcycle, but to provide them with the knowledge, experience and mindset required to progress within professional motorcycle racing.
Background
Qatar Motorsports Academy has developed this exciting project in collaboration with Dorna Sports, bringing together the expertise and experience of the world of professional motorcycle racing.
As part of this vision, the Academy is aligned with Road to MotoGP™, Dorna’s official young talent development pathway, supporting young riders in their progression towards the highest levels of motorcycle racing.
The Academy provides young riders with a structured and progressive introduction to motorcycle racing. From their first experiences on track, riders develop the fundamental skills required to become safe, technically proficient and competitive racers.
Through professional coaching and practical track sessions, riders are given the opportunity to develop their riding technique, race craft, confidence and understanding of motorcycle dynamics in an authentic racing environment.
Training & Development
Qatar Motorsports Academy has its training facilities located within Lusail International Circuit, allowing riders to develop in the same environment that hosts some of the world's most important motorcycle racing events.
Training takes place on the circuit and within the Academy's facilities, combining practical track sessions with structured theoretical education.
Our programmes follow a progressive development philosophy, allowing each rider to improve according to their individual experience, ability and level of competition.
Throughout their development, riders are assessed not only on their riding performance, but also on their physical preparation, mental approach, technical understanding, safety awareness and professional behaviour.
This approach ensures that progression is based on genuine development and that riders are prepared for the increasing demands of competitive motorcycle racing.
Staff
The Academy's coaching team is led by Alberto Moncayo, former 125cc, Moto3™ and Moto2™ rider, whose experience at the highest levels of international motorcycle racing provides valuable insight into the development of young talent.
A team of experienced motorcycle racing instructors works directly with the riders, delivering both technical and sporting training.
Their role extends beyond teaching riding technique. They help riders understand race craft, performance analysis, consistency, motorcycle behaviour and the discipline required to progress through the different stages of competitive racing.
Our instructors are active or former professional motorcycle racers, bringing first-hand experience of international competition and an understanding of the physical, technical and mental demands of professional racing.
Their knowledge, experience and guidance are fundamental to the Academy's philosophy: to inspire, educate and develop the next generation of motorcycle racing talent.
