Qatar Motorsports Academy for children

About Qatar Motorsports Academy

Qatar Motorsports Academy was created with a clear purpose: to identify, develop and support the next generation of motorcycle racing talent in Qatar, providing young riders with the foundations, experience and professional environment needed to pursue a career in motorcycle racing.

For years, Lusail International Circuit has been a benchmark on the international motorcycle racing calendar, hosting the world's leading championships, including MotoGP™ and WorldSBK.

The Academy builds on this unique environment by creating a direct connection between young Qatari and regional talent and the highest levels of international motorcycle racing.

We have partnered with Dorna Sports on this exciting project. As part of this vision, Road to MotoGP™, Dorna's official young talent development programme, forms an integral part of the Academy's identity and reflects our commitment to creating a structured pathway for young riders towards professional motorcycle racing.

Qatar Motorsports Academy's training facilities are located within Lusail International Circuit, allowing riders to train in an authentic professional racing environment and benefit from the same facilities and atmosphere experienced by the world's leading motorcycle racers.

Our training methodology focuses on developing the complete rider. Through structured track training and professional coaching, riders improve their riding technique, race craft and understanding of motorcycle dynamics, while developing strong safety awareness, physical fitness, mental preparation and the discipline required for competitive racing.

Our goal is to create an environment where young riders can learn, develop, compete and progress, building the skills and mindset required to take the next step in their motorcycle racing journey.

Develop the rider. Develop the racer. Develop the future.

Methodology

Qatar Motorsports Academy will welcome young riders between the ages of 8 and 18 years, providing a structured development pathway designed to progressively improve their technical, physical, cognitive, and riding skills.

Upon joining the Academy, each rider will complete an initial assessment conducted by the coaching team. This evaluation will consider riding experience, technical ability, coordination, reaction speed, agility, understanding of motorcycle controls, and overall riding confidence. Based on the results, riders will be assigned to one of three development levels.

Level 1 – Beginners

The Beginners level is designed for riders with little or no previous motorcycle experience, as well as young riders who need to establish a strong foundation of basic skills.

The main objectives at this level are to develop:

  • Basic motorcycle control and body positioning.
  • Braking, acceleration, steering, and cornering fundamentals.
  • Balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.
  • Reaction speed and agility.
  • Understanding of basic safety procedures and riding equipment.
  • Confidence and control in a safe and supervised environment.

Practical training will take place primarily in the Technical Area, using adapted exercises and circuits before progressively introducing riders to the karting circuit.

Level 2 – Amateur

The Amateur level is aimed at riders who have already developed basic motorcycle control and are ready to progress towards more advanced technical skills and greater consistency on track.

Training will focus on:

  • Advanced braking and acceleration techniques.
  • Corner entry, apex and corner exit.
  • Racing lines and track positioning.
  • Body positioning and weight transfer.
  • Improving consistency and precision.
  • Reaction, coordination, and decision-making exercises.
  • Introduction to basic racecraft and track awareness.

At this level, riders will progressively increase the amount of training carried out on the karting circuit, allowing them to apply the technical concepts learned in controlled practical sessions.

Level 3 – Semi-Professional

The Semi-Professional level is designed for riders who demonstrate a high level of technical ability, consistency, commitment, and potential for competitive development.

The objective is to prepare riders for a more demanding sporting environment and to establish the foundations for progression towards national and international motorcycle competition.

Training will include:

  • Advanced riding techniques and motorcycle control.
  • Detailed analysis of racing lines and cornering techniques.
  • Braking references and acceleration points.
  • Racecraft, overtaking, defensive riding, and track positioning.
  • Lap consistency and performance improvement.
  • Reaction and decision-making under pressure.
  • Physical preparation specific to motorcycle racing.
  • Introduction to data analysis and performance evaluation.
  • Race preparation and competition procedures.

Riders at this level will spend a greater proportion of their practical training on the karting circuit, working under conditions that progressively simulate a competitive environment.

Weekly Training Structure

Each level will have two training sessions per week, with each session lasting 2 hours.

The weekly program will alternate between theoretical and practical components, ensuring that riders understand the technical concepts before applying them on the motorcycle.

Holistic Rider Development

The Academy's methodology will go beyond motorcycle riding. Riders will receive age-appropriate theoretical education covering motorsport safety, sporting values, physical preparation, nutrition, concentration, discipline, and competition awareness.

The theoretical sessions will use a highly visual and practical approach, including graphics, videos, demonstrations, and interactive activities to make the learning process accessible and engaging for young riders.

As riders progress through the three levels, the methodology will progressively shift from fundamental motorcycle skills and control towards technical precision, track performance, racecraft, and competition preparation.

The coaching team will continuously monitor each rider's development. Riders demonstrating the necessary technical level, commitment, and progression may be recommended to advance to the next level.

The Academy will be open to Qatari and expatriate riders between 8 and 18 years of age, providing an inclusive development pathway for young motorsport talent in Qatar.
